U14s AT HURLING FEILE NA NGAEL 2015
Last weekend saw our U14s travel to Ulster to take part in the Feile na nGael competition. Having lost our opening two games on the Friday, our boys roared back into the competition on Saturday with two fine wins. This qualified us for the Shield semi-final on Sunday where we faced Middletown from Armagh who began playing with the aid of a very strong wind. The opening period was dominated by two "square ball" incidents - one which saw a Slashers goal disallowed and the other which stood for the Orchard County boys. In the second half we failed to make use of the wind advantage and a coveted place in the final slipped from our grasp. Despite the disappointment, we are very proud of our players and how they acquitted themselves over the weekend, both on and off the field. We were given a real "céad míle fáilte" by our host club Cumann Pheadair Naofa of Warrenpoint to which we are wholly grateful and we also received great support from the players' families. Hopefully this experience will be one that everyone cherishes for a long time to come. Huge credit must go to Carol Murray and to Adrian Flynn in making the trip a reality as well as to team mentors, Eamon Kenny and Niall Ward.
