Slashers Ladies in Leinster Quarter Final Action

Published in Ladies Football, News

Our Ladies team were in Leinster Intermediate quarter final action against Navan O' Mahonys on Saturday last at Michael Fay Park. After what was an epic encounter, our ladies came out on top by the narrowest of margins.  The ladies stepped up a gear on their county final performance to take the game to their opponents from the off with some great football played by both sides. After being behind early on, the ladies moved into top gear to lead by 6 points at half time after some great attacking football. The second half was a tight affair with both sides playing some great attacking football. However with a few minutes remaining, Navan regained the upper hand and after scoring a penalty, lead by 4 points. Our ladies showed great courage and determination to not take defeat lying down and turned the deficit into a one point lead with time up. This was a great result and showed the maturity in the team after a number of years together to dig out a result in the end. This win sees them take on Shemalier from Wexford in the Leinster semi final on Saturday next at our club grounds at 1.30pm. This is a big game for the club and we urge all supporters to come to see our ladies in action in their efforts to reach a Leinster final. Tickets will be available online from Leinster Ladies GAA. We will need stewards on the day and ask all members to help out if they can. Best of luck ladies.
