Slashers Ladies through to All Ireland Final

Published in Ladies Football, News

Our senior ladies squad are through to the All Ireland final in two weeks time after a tremendous win over Connaught champions Charlestown on Sunday last at Michael Fay park. We got a good start to the game with a couple of points before we were pegged back when the Charlestown team settled into the game. We then had a purple patch and were leading 7 points to 2 before 3 points in a row before half time brought Charlestown back into the game again. We got a good start to the 2nd half before a well worked Kate Shannon goal put a bit of daylight between the teams. Our ladies put in a great last quarter to hold on for a great 1-11 to 0-10 victory. This is a marvellous achievement for our ladies and the club to have our team as the first Longford club team to feature in an All Ireland final. Well done to the ladies and their management on another great achievement and they will now be flying the Longford flag when they take on Mullinahone (Tipperary) in the All Ireland Intermediate final in Croke Park at 3pm on Saturday 10th December. Well done again ladies.
