Reserve Leagues start well for Slashers

Reserve Leagues 1 & 3 started well for Flipeadóirí Longfoirt this week end with both senior and junior teams gaining victories. SeniorTosachmaithleathna h-oibre! FlipeadóiríLongfoirtseniorsbegan the league well on Saturday afternoon away to Clonguishgaining the three points on a final score of Slashers 1-9 to Clonguish 1-6. This was the kind of start that the team needed to commence the season and the win was achieved through hard work and good support play with players like Cían Kavanagh, Andrew Kelly, Diarmuid Sheehanand Líam Barrycontesting wellaround the pitch. Good attendance at training and the work by players on their own showed in the 2nd half. Junior: Shroid opened the scoring with a point but the game was decided early on in favour of Slashers with four first half goals in a short space of time, a number of which fortuitously dropped short into the net. Slashers has a substantial lead a half time with 5 first half goals Cathal Creamer & Ross Flaherty among the scorers. It was a more competitive second half in a game played in difficult conditions and a lack of match practice evident with many handling errors. Slashers were comfortable winners in the end.
