Ladies Minor Champions

Published in Ladies Football, News

Congratulations to our minor team who completed a historic 5 in a row in the Minor Championship final at Kenagh last Sunday morning against Gratten's.  We started the game well with Jessica Barry kicking a couple of good long range frees.  We were playing some good football at this stage but Gratten's came into the game when we conceded as sloppy goal to level the match.  Our girls responded in great fashion and a few well taken scores just before half give us a three point lead. We started the second half as we had finished the first on the front foot getting a number of well taken points and then a  goal from Jessica Barry to establish a good lead.  There were a few delays in play during this half with two Grattens girls getting unfortunate injuries and we wish them well. Our girls maintained their grip on the game from there on and further goals from Kara Shannon and Aine Barry sealed a convincing victory.  The final score of 3-15 to 1-03 proved that in both defence and attach all our players played their hearts out. It was a great team performance from our girls and just reward for all the training and hard work over the last few months. Well done also to Aoife O' Brien who was winning her 5th minor medal.
Thanks to Conor Clarke and his band of mentors for all the hard work they put in throughout the year and it all paid off with the championship cup in the end.
