Hurling Club Notes July 5th 2016

U14 COUNTY FINAL A massive performance by our U14s last Wednesday evening in Pearse Park saw us reclaim the Championship title for the first time since 2011. It all came together for the players on the day and parents, family and mentors couldn't be more proud of them. The team will go on now to compete in the Westmeath Division 2 Championship. Hard luck to a young Wolfe Tones side who never gave up...beidh lá eile agaibh.
POC FADA
We hosted the County Poc Fada last Sunday week and it was a well-attended and enjoyable occasion for all. Eoin Donnellan was victorious in the senior event while Matthew Donoghoe won the U16 title. The other winners on the day were Adam Murray (U12), Conor Leonard (U14) and Sean McNally (Masters). Thanks to Paddy O'Connor for running the show and to Carol Murray for providing the refreshments. BLITZ

Thanks to Kenagh GAA for hosting us in their underage tournament also last Sunday week. We intend to return the favour. Training for U8s and U10s continues every Saturday at 11am.
SENIORS

Well done to our seniors who beat our neighbours Clonguish by a point last Thursday night in the Leitrim League. Despite being understrength, we somehow dug out a victory. We've only been defeated in this competition once in the last three seasons and will face Tourlestrane of Sligo next week in Round 3.
COUNTY SQUADS
The County U12 squad are also in action tomorrow evening in the Westmeath League where they take on Lough Lene Gaels in Collinstown. Despite missing five regulars last Wednesday week, the team continued their winning ways in the competition with a 2-4 to 1-2 win over Southern Gaels in Athlone.
Congratulations to the County U21s who defeated Fermanagh 3-12 to 0-11 to win the inaugural Shane Mulholland Memorial Tournament final in Breffni Park in Cavan last Tuesday.
