Hurling Club Notes – 9th June 2014

Published in Hurling Club, News

Many congrats to the Longford County Hurlers on winning the Lory Meagher Cup after a tumultuous struggle with Fermanagh on Saturday. We ran a bus to Croke Park for supporters and it turned out to be a great trip for everyone, young and old. There was a great turnout for U10 training and U12 match last Wednesday. And with the Camogie U14s training as well as our Senior hurlers back in action you might've mistaken Slashers for a club in Kilkenny or Tipperary! Our U12s lost to a very strong and skilful Southern Gaels side from the Athlone region but despite this our boys fought hard to the end and indeed played very well for long periods of the game. Training for U14s and U12s continues this Wednesday. Our senior team faced Cluainín Iomáint in Manorhamilton in the Leitrim cross border league on Monday. Details to follow. Sincere condolences to the Murray, Wykes & Reilly families on the passing of former Longford Town great Mickey 'Spiv' Reilly. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.
