Hurling Club Notes 5th of October 2015

Published in Hurling Club, News

Last Saturday week, along with the Slashers Camógie Club, we hosted a fun day which was a great success. Activities included a "wacky races" obstacle course, "hotshots" and "crossbar challenge" competitions and four exhibition matches. We were also very fortunate to have special guest Rory from "Rory's Stories" in attendance on the day. As well as being blessed with the weather it turned out to be a great way to bring down the curtain on an eventful underage season. Special thanks to Carol Murray, Adrian Flynn, Shane Crossan, Rory and to Herterich's who provided the food. Thanks also to our players and their parents for continued support.
Our minors had another fantastic victory in the Westmeath 13-a-side championship at the weekend. Three points down at half-time the lads pulled out all the stops to hold out for their third win in this competition and a guaranteed semi-final berth. Final score: Longford Slashers 2-12 Fr. Dalton's 1-13. Well done to all involved.

This Sunday our seniors take on Glencar-Manorhamilton in the Leitrim Hurling League Final in Carrick-on-Shannon at 2pm. The match is part of a doubleheader with the Leitrim County Hurling Final and we hope to finish the season on a high by retaining this trophy.
