Hurling Club Notes – 2nd June 2014

Published in Hurling Club, News

Best of luck to the County Hurlers who face Fermanagh in Croke Park this Saturday in the Lory Meagher Cup Final. We are hoping to run a bus from the club so please contact Niall Ward (087 9344157) if you wish to book seats. Congratulations to Cian Kavanagh on winning the County Poc Fada competition which was held at Newcastle House estate on bank holiday Monday. Hard luck to Conor Gallagher & Stephen Farrell who competed in the U16 section. Well done also to Hugh O Kane & Tommy Hawes who got the top scores in the Over-40s section. Well done to our mighty U10s who had a brilliant victory over Cullion in the Westmeath League on Saturday. This was our third away fixture in-a-row in this competition & despite missing a couple of regulars still had 13 players available. Many thanks to the parents for travelling to these games & for supporting Slashers underage hurling - we're due a few home games the next few weeks. Well done also to our U12s who beat Westmeath club St. Brigid's as well as Clonguish recently. The U12s are at home to Athlone-based club Southern Gaels this Wednesday & there'll be training for U8s & U10s @ 6.30 the same evening.
