Hurling Club Notes – 25th June 2014

Published in Hurling Club, News

It has been a good week for our club retaining the U12 County Hurling title for the third time in four years after a hard fought final last Wednesday in Pearse Park. Final score: Slashers 3-4 Wolfe Tones 1-1. Many congrats to the team players, mentors and parents. Captain on the day, Conor Leonard, also went on to win the County Poc Fada in the Community Games as did his sister Áine. Our Senior Hurlers continued their winning ways on Sunday evening with another good win in the Leitrim League this time beating St. Mary's of Carrick-on-Shannon. Training for U12s and U14s this Wednesday at 6.30pm followed by Senior training at 8pm. Hard luck and well done to the Wolfe Tones U14s who reached the semi-final of the Feile na nGael National hurling competition held in Ulster last weekend. Also well done to our sister club who once again competed very well in the Camógie Feile. We would like to express our sincere sympathies to the Ryan family who are mourning the loss of Margaret who was in her 100th year. Her son, Harry, was part of our club for a long time and his sons Derek and Adrian also played underage hurling for Slashers. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.
