Hurling Club Notes – 18 May 2014

Published in Hurling Club, News

Well done to the County Senior Hurlers on reaching their third Lory Meagher Cup final in four years which will take place in Croke Park on Saturday June 7th. We hope to run a supporters bus on the day so let us know if you're interested in travelling. Our U10's travelled in good numbers to Castletown-Geoghgan for their second game in the Westmeath League last Thursday where they were up against one of the heavyweight clubs of Westmeath hurling. After being under the cosh for much of the first half the boys in blue turned the tide in the second half in what was a spirited and encouraging performance. Our U12's were most unfortunate when falling just short against our county rivals Wolfe Tones after a titanic struggle in Farneyhoogan last Wednesday week. Final score: Slashers 1-2 Wolfe Tones 2-1. The team has another league match this Wednesday away to St. Brigid's off Rochfortbridge as well as a championship fixture with Clonguish next week in Newtownforbes. Training for U8s, U10s and U12s continues on Saturday at 11am. New members welcome.
