Good luck An Longfort V Luimneach

Published in News, Senior Football

County Best of luck to Flipeadóirí Longfoirt players V Luimneach this week end in Pearse Park on Sunday. The Slashers men have been a big part of the great start to 2016 in the blue and gold. Barry Gilleran had a fine game V Offaly and was well supported by team Capt Dermot Brady who had been tireless during all the O Byrne Cup games. Michael Brady has been lording it and midfield and along with Andrew Dalton has been chipping over a few important scores along the way. Colm Farrell has already stood between the posts with style and Peter Foy is coming back to full fitness so should see game time soon. A win V Luimneach would set the team off on the right path early in the league and it was clear that Longfort were well capable of at least drawing the game V Offaly with a few extra scores chances taken. This team was able for Dublin in January so we all hope that they will repeat that form this week at the same venue which should be worth 2 points at least at home. Best of luck to all the sky blue stalwarts and to all club players lining out against Luimneach. Senior training Fileapoidóirí Longfoirt seniors had a good run out recently with an impressive turn out of club footballers showing their commitment at this time of year under new manager Eugene McCormack. Eugene has cast the net wide to invite players to rejoin the effort at the senior club and we are looking forward to seeing players that have been coming through from under age and also some hardy annuals that still have lots of football yet.  Players are asked to contact Eugene to make sure that they are in the loop and to get an idea of the training plan as the Spring started this week on 01 February, Lá Bríde...... Anois teacht an Earraigh beidh an lá ag dul chun síneadh....We realise that many players are away mid week in College and working but its really a chance to get going on week ends early and be in full flight once the league starts. Up and coming players like  Conor Clarke, Seán Clarke, Andrew Kelly, Shane Rodgers, Rúairí Clarke, Tom Madden,  Adrian Duffy, Ronan Sheahan, Cían & Kevin Finnan, Daniel Kirby, Seán Costelloe, Danny Monks, Rory O Brien, Brian Walshe, Shane Skelly, Cíarán Farrell, Cian Kavanagh, Brian Rooney, Liam Barry, Cillian & Eoin Bartley, Robbie Clarke and many other will be eager to stake a claim on a senior  team position. Great to see Peter Brady leading the way in training last week and we hope that the more experienced players will give the lead and set a high standard all round. This Saturday we have a challenge game arranged so please respond to the text and let Eugene know your availability early. Our Club Draw will be taking place again this year and tickets will be available shortly. Draws will take place in April, May and June and we look forward to the same level of support over recent years which has been a key part of our financing.
