Girls U16 Championship & Ladies Division 2 Winners

Published in Ladies Football, News

Pride of place this week goes to our U16 squad who put in a tremendous display on Thursday evening last to win the Championship final against Ballymahon/Forgney. Having been well beaten in the league stages of the competition, the girls knew they were up against it but were not overawed by the occasion and put in a fine display. In a very tight game the girls were ahead early on only to be pegged back by half time. A Ballymahon goal midway through the second half left us trailing by 2 points but a Grace Shannon goal and some great defense saw us winning by a point on a 1-11 to 2-07 scoreline. Well done girls. Meanwhile our Division 2 ladies squad played their final league game on Sunday last against Killashee and we had a convincing victory by 9-21 to 0-09. This victory means that they have now won the Division 2 title and have achieved promotion to Division 1 for next season. This is a great achievement for this young team and a tribute to the amount of work being done on and off the field with this talented bunch of ladies. Well done ladies and hopefully we can now go on to win the junior championship.
