Flipeadóirí Longfoirt Slashers had a home venue against Colmcille on Friday evening and came away without the points, in the end being beaten by 5pts. There was a solid team on the field but the scoring frequency for the home side was not enough. Coming into the summer period the team now has to show some real intensity to compete in the heat of championship. Slashers have the players and the mentors to press on and make use of these league games to fine tune. Colm Farrell continues to be rock solid in goal and is an important cog in the wheel with his experience. Leadership is also well placed in the backs with Dermot Brady, Peter Brady and Barry Gilleran and the wholehearted game of Rónan Sheehan. Darren Flaherty and Brian Walsh are not new either to this level - this can be one of the tightest back lines around. There is work ahead to turn these matches into victories.
