Division 1 League Flipeadóirí Longfoirt won against Carrickedmond in the Div 1 League match on Saturday evening in a lively encounter with the home side rallying in the 2nd half. This was a good outing for Slashers who fielded a young team still in the building phase. It was a nice game for manager Eugene McCormack and Paul Finnan to see the players in a competitive game. Rónan Sheehan showed again that he is a prospect for the future and has all the skill for the senior level as well as a good temperament in a key position. Colm Farrell, Adrian Duffy and Darren Flaherty were the other bricks in the wall. Team capt Peter Brady led the half backs with Dermot Brady and Seán Clarke always sound. The mid-field pairing of Barry Gilleran and an in form Brian Walsh shows signs of being a good option with both men solid under high balls. All six forwards  registered scores which is the kind of statistic that counts. Conor Clarke had a good game with brother Robbie hunting for ball. Andrew Dalton, Andrew Kelly and Kevin and Cian Finnan all popped over scores. Cian Kavanagh, Colm Farrell,Paul Kelly,Daniel Kirby, Martin Tarmey also made the score sheet on a good night all round. Next up is Clonguish on Weds night 13 April.
