Big games this week – Beir bua

Published in News, Senior Football

Comhghairdeas to our minor players Ronan Sheehan, Liam Barry and Cian Finnan and all the Longford team who will head for a Leinster final next Sunday. It will be great to see the Longford colours in Croke against the Lilywhites. We wish our lads every success and to enjoy the experience of playing at the top level on the day of a final. Iarnróid Eireann have extra service on 12 th July for the game. The same congrats to our three seniors who face Kildare in Mullingar this week. Beating Clare was a step up for Longford and its a boost for football in the county. Good luck to Dermot Brady, Barry Gilleran and Peter Foy who will represent Slashers on the team. Our juniors are out on Friday 10 July in Dromard for a Division 3 league game.  Slashers are the holders of the League crown and the intention is to hold onto our title again. We now have all the exam lads back in action so we are expecting a full turn out for this important game. The junior team have an excellent squad and have played very attractive football all the way through so far. Many of these players are future senior players for the club and so the need to get into finals at this stage is key. A very solid performance the last day was good preparation for the Dromard match so we are looking for more of the same on Friday evening. The team is a great mix of experience and youth. A number of players who were unavailable last week should be on the pitch on Friday evening which will add to our strength. Team that played versus Shroid: Daniel Doherty, Conor Clarke, John McKeon, Martin Jennings, Shane Dann, Shane O Connell, Sean Clarke, Ruairí Clarke, Andrew Lyons, Cíarán Farrell, James Martin, Patrick Farrell, Andrew Kelly, Ross Flaherty, Mark Mulligan, Nathan Steele, Danny Monks, Hugo Carey, Aiden Gilleran, Eoin Bartley.
